Every fall the quaint city of Mount Dora hosts a two-day craft festival that draws over 350 artists and over 300,000 visitors to this small Florida town. For 28 years this festival has brought skilled artisans from all over the country to Lake County to show their unique, handmade wares. During these two days, all of the streets in the downtown area of Mount Dora are cordoned off to vehicles so that a village of tents and tables can be erected for the event.
Treasures that can be found at the Craft Festival include such art as sculpture, paintings, wood working items, leather goods, mixed media pieces, jewelry and more. Crafts on display are often functional as well as ornate. Many artists who attend will demonstrate their trade at the festival with painters creating custom works right in front of the buyer.
In addition to shopping, the Mount Dora Craft Festival includes other events and attractions including concerts in Donnelley Park, local food vendors, and street entertainers. If you are searching for even more treasures and finds, you might consider visiting Mount Dora’s Renningers Antique and Flea market.
