Experience the exciting history of America’s steam locomotive in Tavares, Florida! The 100 year old Orange Blossom Cannonball is one of the last operating trains of this type and has delighted passengers for over a century. It has gained notoriety for having been featured in over 20 films and/or TV specials including True Grit, 3:10 to Yuma, O’ Brother Where Art Thou, There Will Be Blood, and Rosewood. A ride on this piece of history is the perfect way to show your family how fun education can be!
The Orange Blossom Cannonball operates tours from Tavares to Lake Jem. These tours last just over an hour and bring passengers through the heart of Central Florida. Tours depart from Wooten Park on Beautiful Lake Dora. Friendly staff, dressed in period costumes, will welcome you aboard the Cannonball and seat you in one of her vintage coaches. During your trip the conductor will regale you with stories of the old T&G Railroad, blow the famous steam whistle, and allow you to take stunning photographs of the train and your scenic surroundings.
The Orange Blossom Cannonball runs every Saturday and Sunday several times a day, however, it also operates on additional dates for special events. Come enjoy a 30 minute 4th of July ride through Tavares. In October, take part in the Pumpkin Limited, a ride that goes from Tavares’ Wooten Station to a local pumpkin patch where you can meet Farmer Brown and his scarecrow, enjoy refreshments, and pick your own pumpkin! If you want a more scary experience, come aboard the Cannonball for her Haunted Tour in October. During this frightening ride you will board the train at dusk and have some ghoulish company along the way. If you are feeling festive in December, you can bring the whole family on the Cannonball Christmas Express where there will be seasonal songs, hot cocoa and cookies. Best of all, there will be a special visit from Santa and his elves that bring special gifts for all the children aboard! Tickets for various events can be purchased online.
