The Tavares Seaplane Landing Base is located right on Lake Dora and has hosted these nautical planes for over a hundred years. With 50 acres of landing shoreline it is no wonder that this base, visited by thousands of seaplanes annually has made Tavares America’s Seaplane City. The base is a public use facility which is know for its many events and celebrations which feature seaplanes including several Fly In events throughout the year for pilots from all over the nation. The Fly-Ins include activities such as a Bomb Drop Contest, a Spot Landing Competition and a Shortest Take Off event. Prizes are awarded in these events and a pilots hangout usually follows. Tours also depart from the Seaplane Base frequently.
Take to the air in one of Tavares’ famous seaplanes. Jones Brothers Air and Seaplane Adventures include aerial tours over Lake Dora, the Harris Chain of Lakes, Orlando’s attractions, and all of the beautiful scenery that covers Central Florida.
Aerial tours last from 10 minutes to 2 hours and start as low as $30. A variety of planes are available with both single and multi-engines. We provide access to two Cessna 180 Straight floated seaplanes equipped with PK 3000 floats and on twin-engine Sea Bee.
In addition to aerial tours, Jones Brothers offers licensed flight instruction. Training includes SES instruction from private to ATP skill level.
Jones Brothers Air and Seaplane Adventures is located directly adjacent to Wooten Park on the shore of sparkling Lake Dora. From this vantage point, you can watch seaplanes taking off or coming in to land gracefully on the water. If you are hungry, you can watch the seaplanes while enjoying delicious food at lakeside Al’s Landing or on the lake-facing patio at O’Keefe’s Pub.
There is no end to the fun that can be found along the lake shore of Lake Dora and the aerial experience of flying over this beautiful region.
