The Villages is a retirement community located in Sumter County and has quite aptly been called “Disney World for adults.” Designed to be completely accessible by golf carts, it is widely-regarded as one of the top planned golfing and retirement communities. The Villages can boast 38 courses in all and will eventually include 47 courses total when current planning is completed.
The Villages includes a number of town centers which act as a hub for recreation and social activities. Lake Sumter Landing is the main town center for The Villages, and a great spot to grab some food, go shopping or just stroll the boardwalk and enjoy the view. Lake Sumter Landing offers many fine shops including Southern Accents on Market Square, Nantucket Bay clothiers, The Bead Bar, Arden’s Fine Jewelers, and the Wild Bird Center.
The Old Mill Playhouse runs movies for all to enjoy or you can stick with reading books at the Barnes and Nobles nearby. Take a leisurely walk by the Lewis Lighthouse Bar & Grille to enjoy live music under the quaint Lake Sumter Landing lighthouse. Enjoy burgers and fries at Johnny Rockets or sample fresh seafood down at R.J. Gators. Go Italian at Dominic’s Ristorante for an elegant and casual dinner or grab Bravo Pizza, which also offers take-out. The Villages newest expansion, Brownwood, is located about 20 minutes from our Leesburg hotel and is on the outskirts of the town of Wildwood on the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 75. This stunning community is a Western-themed location with home sites as well as a huge dance hall, movie theater, restaurants, and retail store shopping. The town center for Brownwood is Paddock Square which promises to grow and become popular similar to Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs Square. Whether you are retiring, visiting retired family or just looking for good shopping and entertainment, The Villages is sure to please.
